Exhibition
In collaboration with the Kunstverein Avantgarde, under the supervision of Marianne Penz van Stappershoef, the Galerie der Stadt Schwaz presented an audio-visual installation for the 4. Internationale Akademie für neue Komposition.
The Media artist Rens Veltman based in Schwaz and Marek Choloniewski, a computer artist and composer from Krakow, transformed the gallery space into an experimental microcosm that provided an audio-visual approach to the inner workings of the computer. The visitors triggered the installation's movements, sounds and light. Everyday items formed a network of hyper-permeable media. A perception of experience instrinsic to computers was evoked. Human being and machine were quasi-symbiotically bound within a closed network as actions and automated responses impacted reciprocally on one another.
The two artists revealed the inner workings of electronic music in the installation. That they employed filiar objects to do this brought with it a closeness to human and machine-based possibilities.
